Grammar
- Study your grammar cards!
- Check out this game! You may need to use a computer for it to work.
- Parents, Grammar Quest is a fairly long game that helps review parts of speech... and encourages reading! They can save their game if they need to and get back to it later.
Science
We will be reviewing key concepts for the next few weeks. In class, the kids reviewed the water cycle.
Follow this link to play a fun water cycle game! (Must be done on a computer to work!)
Handwriting
- I assessed each student, and I am emailing you individual handwriting lessons! We will be spending the rest of the school year tackling any issues with correct formation. Parents, remember to check to see if they are starting their letters at the top, and lowercase letters a, c, d, g, and q all begin the same way... like the letter c. It seems picky, but speed will matter later in life, and habits are formed now!
History-
- Read your handout on The New Frontier.
- Read through the information on your covered wagon. Which style of covered wagon would YOU choose if you had to make the journey west? On the last page on your covered wagon, write about which you would choose and explain why. Be sure to use your best handwriting and write in complete sentences!
Journal-
- This week, take your pick from the following writing topics:
- Imagine that you were in the Carolinas right after the American Revolution. You've just been asked to journey west into the unknown wilderness! Write about your thoughts, your fears, your excitement, etc. What would you take with you? What do you think you might see out there?
- It's almost the end of the school year! Think about your first week of class. Now, write a letter to yourself! You might mention things you will do this year, animals that you will meet, or friends you will have. You've done so much this year!
